About Josh

I’m Joshua DeLucia, Josh to almost everyone. I’m a founder in Indianapolis, a dad, and an Indiana University guy, and I’ve spent my whole career helping businesses figure out what to do with technology.

Where I started

I went to Indiana University in Bloomington, and I’m still a fan of IU basketball and football.

I cut my teeth in data center and cloud computing sales, back when hardly anyone knew what the cloud was.

Seeing businesses from a lot of angles

My career has stayed in enterprise technology and go-to-market work: sales, revenue systems, and the messy middle where technology meets how a company actually runs. Along the way I’ve worked with businesses from early-stage companies to large enterprises, and I’ve seen them from a lot of different vantage points.

That variety has been the best part. It gave me a wide mix of insights, strategies, and ways of understanding a business, and what I learn in one company often turns out to matter in the next. It also left me with a habit I can’t shake: looking at the whole business instead of one department’s slice of it.

What I’m doing now

That habit is why I started Elevare. Most companies already know far more than they can use, because it’s scattered across systems and a few people’s heads. Elevare connects that knowledge so people and AI can work from it. The Work page covers Elevare and the other things I’m building, with an honest label on each.

I also write The Intelligence Estate, a weekly first-person series about building these systems as I go, including what didn’t work. A selection is on the Writing page.

How I think about the work

Start with the business, not the tool.
Before choosing software, work out what the company knows, where it lives, and what decision it should improve.
Record the why, not just the what.
Companies are good at recording what happened and poor at remembering why, so they end up re-arguing settled decisions.
Keep the model replaceable.
The knowledge should live somewhere the business owns, readable by whatever AI comes next.
Never trust a naked score.
A number can sort a pile. The reasoning behind it is what matters.
Know when to stop building.
Once the next question can only be answered by a customer, go ask the customer.

Outside of work

Most of my free time goes to my daughters. Beyond that, I’m usually reading, geeking out on the Huberman Lab podcast, or walking my dog, Winston. In season, there’s a good chance an IU game is on.
